TCS youth driving camp – contribution to responsible driving
44 young people took part in the TCS youth driving camp in Ticino this year. All participants passed the theory test at the end of the driving training week. The camp was organised jointly by the Central Swiss sections of Zug, Schwyz, Uri and Waldstätte.
Mix of theory and practice
The youth driving camp is primarily aimed at teenagers and young adults on their way to the car test. The focus is on practical driving training on the closed Ambrì-Piotta airstrip, the emergency course and the completion of the traffic theory test at the end of the week. Topics such as “keeping distance” and “distraction in road traffic” will also be discussed in detail. In this way the camp aims to contribute to greater road safety and responsible driving.

Through targeted driving manoeuvres on cordoned-off slopes, the young people acquire a solid basic knowledge for further training on the road. This is confirmed by Sven Meier, President of the Verkehrsschule Zug and driving instructor at the youth driving camp: “The young people have a massive advantage in the later driving lessons with the driving instructor, as pre-school training is often neglected there”. Driving instructor Marco Lüthold, also from the Verkehrsschule Zug, joined the team for the first time.
Success rate of 100 percent
Once again, this year, all the young people passed the traffic theory test with flying colours at the end of the week. “It shows once again that the participants were able to focus on the driving exercises as well as on theory this week,” explains course instructor Pascal Wettstein. Just in time for their 18th birthday, the young people are now receiving their learning driving licence.
